Classroom interaction

When I was at the school new technologies were starting to be used in the daily lessons, only a few teachers taught using computers, web pages or videos

My speciality is science and I will teach it in ESO and Bachillerato. In these courses you always need a special material to catch the attention of a group of children with a subject that can be abstract for them.

I think a video that shows in the classroom a experiment and evidences a theory or a special program where the children may practice and prove something that, for them, is not real are two examples of strategies that could be interesting in a science classroom where the new technologies start to be essential.


In my science lessons I would like to use some strategies to bring closer science to children that are discovering it, videos with experiments, applications to put into practice a theory are examples of the strategies I will promote with my lessons.

English and ITC 2

My favourite dictionary is http://merriam-webster.com I have not use it before, but from my point of view, in this web page you can find more than a definition about any word. I have looked for chromosome and in it I have found illustrations about the chromosome and different definitions. I think that this option gives you more information and different links where you can find more information about the definition and about connected words.
                The webpage http://www.learnersdictionary.com has a good definition but is simpler than the others dictionaries.
                In thesaurus.com you can find synonyms of words. The word I have chosen to look for is vegetal. I have found four options, and the webpage gives you the option of decide according to the length, the relevance and the complexity of the word you have looking for.
                As an expression with preposition I have chosen in early June, a simple expression to talk about the first days of a month in Spanish is “a principios de junio”.




English and ITC

I have chosen biology as a subject, and the level is 4º ESO. From my point of view the children will need a good control of the speaking skills to avoid problems in presentations. Talking about writing, the children should have knowlegde of the present tenses, past simple and will, the comparatives and superlatives and first condicional. For the reading they should have the hability to understand simple texts no longer than 100 words.

The linguistic exchange that they have to know are definitions and descriptions, presentations, answer questions with ten words or more and describe ideas or thesis with images or schemes.

What's a Blog?

On internet we have a lot of differents definitions about what is a blog, and the characteristics of it. For me a blog is a web page where you can find information about something. For example, in a blog of healthy food you have information about the qualities of differents aliments like fruits, vegetables, etc. There are opinion blogs too, where you find the opinion of someone about the current affairs or blogs of the daily journal, where the blogger write his/her daily experience.

The use of a blog in the class could give us a lot of posibilities to have more participation of ours students in the daily work of the class. A blog of the subject should be controled by the teacher, dedicating it to the progress of the lessons.

Something About Me



My name is Jorge Culiáñez. I studied Environmental Science at university Miguel Hernández in Elche. Currently I am an extra-curricular English teacher from three to twelve year-old children.

My level of English is B2, I have a FCE diploma. I have done other online courses and I usually visit news and scientific websites. I like new technologies, I have a laptop and a smartphone and my next purchase is going to be a tablet.
